Schengen Visa from the UK

What a strong Schengen visa application needs to show.

A short-stay Schengen visa can allow eligible non-EU nationals to visit the Schengen Area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Your application should clearly connect your UK residence, travel purpose, route, funds and plans to return.

Why are you travelling?

Tourism, business and private visits each need evidence that matches the genuine purpose.

Where will you spend most time?

The main-destination rule determines which country should normally receive the application.

How is the trip funded?

Financial, employment, study or sponsorship evidence should tell one consistent story.

Why will you return?

UK status and personal circumstances help show the temporary nature of the journey.

Schengen Visa Eligibility

Who needs a Schengen visa to enter Europe?

Many non-EU passport holders need a visa before travelling to the Schengen Area. This can include Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi and many African passport holders who live legally in the UK.

Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality and circumstances. A short-stay visa normally allows visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period, subject to the visa issued.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked Schengen visa questions.

Requirements can change and individual circumstances matter. These answers are a starting point, not a substitute for the current instructions of the responsible authority.

See every question
Who can apply for a Schengen visa from the UK?
Visa-required non-British nationals who are legally resident in the UK may normally apply from the UK, subject to the responsible consulate’s jurisdiction and residence-validity rules.
Which country should receive my application?
Apply through your only destination or the country where you will spend the greatest amount of time. If stays are equal, the first Schengen country entered is generally responsible.
When should I start preparing?
EU guidance says an application can generally be lodged up to six months before travel and should normally be submitted at least 15 days before the journey. Appointment waiting time is separate, so earlier preparation is sensible.
Can you guarantee an appointment or approval?
No. Appointment availability is controlled by official systems, and only the responsible embassy or consulate decides an application. We provide independent preparation and document support.
Do you help with a previous refusal?
Yes. We can review the refusal notice, identify possible preparation gaps and organise a reapplication where appropriate. A future decision cannot be guaranteed.
